  • MIA: Movement MCS Drum Computer

Allegedly based around a Kaypro Home computer, this Combination Sampler/Analogue drum sequencer was actually awesome.. Human League had one for a while during the making of TRAVELOGUE (but gave it back - terms and conditions apply, may be a lie..) The most famous use of it was for the SWEET DREAMS sessions by eurythmics.. It appears on THIS IS THE HOUSE and THE WALK 12-inches as well as (of coarse) in the title track of the album - ending up in the private collection of Vince Clarke to this day..

The rumor goes it sold only 1 unit, the same unit that went from League to Eurythmics to Vince.. This means it is easily the most valuable drumming computer in the galaxy.

A possible contributer to the Movement's short life was this cover of ESM&CM from January 1984, clearly showing the later lineup of Kajagoogoo pouting with a (possibly shooped) MCS in the foreground, sitting next to a Simmons Kit. Take Your pick of which element of this picture offends most. Strange thing: the unit here is in an orange case..

I have 2 or 3 issues here, but not the second ever i'm sure.. Defo had the First ever SOUND ON SOUND though, with Midge Ure on the cover..

Lol KCR news.. I think Kajagoogoo should do a photo shoot there to promote the world tour.
