Is is possible to spam a spammer to the point where they cease and desist from spamming altogether?
If that can be done, then that's probably the way to go. Spamming the spammers? The transit companies will *love* it, since it's been noted in the past that companies like MCI deliberately do nothing about spam bcoz in the end it all comes down to data traffic on their networks who they charge customers for (That's right, kids - business has to make money to survive! >|: ) so it's not in their interests to do anything about spam what. so. ever.

Reverse the charges.
It could be difficult to do since a large amount of spam (and other 'interference') comes from compromised systems in the first place (eg BotNet) so If I know exactly who's to blame then the source gets it.

Remember the problems when there's guncrime and muggings in an area? If the people do nothing and get too scared to go out, then the streets go to the assholes. If the people don't stand for it, then they keep their streets for themselves. Apply that to netspace. And before I forget, if you get a someones MAC address, you can REALLY feck em over insofar as they wake up one morning to find the corpo excavating their front lawn
